Your question may no longer be relevant, but I'll answer it. If an item is not in stock and the delivery date is not known and it seems that this cannot be changed quickly, you can click on the shopping cart button but nothing happens. It is better not to be able to buy than to wait pointlessly until the status changes.
This is probably the reason why it doesn't work.
