Finally, a great application for the NFC interface: Finger gestures instead of mechanical buttons, switches, or dials program the timer 12.51. Here, FINDER uses the smartphone to communicate with the device. Smartphone apps have the charm of being clear and intuitive to use. The device for DIN rail can be fully configured with the FINDER Toolbox app on the smartphone. Once the configuration is complete, the data set is transferred to the timer—simply by placing the smartphone on the device housing. The data transfer works even without the timer being powered, as the smartphone itself induces the NFC chip to receive. Consequently, it can be comfortably configured in the office after unpacking and then immediately installed in the distribution board or control cabinet, fully programmed.

The LC display with backlighting for setup, programming, and status is easy to read from almost any angle. An internal battery (replaceable) allows for power-free setup, programming, and status with a 6-year reserve and is used to maintain the program in case of a power failure. Simple programming of the daily and weekly programs is, of course, also possible with the joystick. The summer/winter time change is pre-set. The shortest switching time is 30 minutes. There is a safe separation between the power supply and contacts, with cadmium-free contact material.
