Map updates, TomTom Traffic as well as radar updates are free of charge during the product lifetime.
However, radar detectors are prohibited in Switzerland and are therefore not offered by TomTom.
Attention: "Lifetime" means as long as the product or service for this device is offered by TomTom!

The version installed on the device always remains on it as long as you do not delete it. But updates are chargeable after one year. Only the maps are free for life.
