It is a large burner, i.e. cooking chamber, and therefore needs gas.
I was able to grill max 3 then a small cartridge was empty.
Advantage, not heavy and does not need much space to carry 2 cartridges, but I mainly need mine when camping and therefore have a large 20kg gas bottle directly connected and grills wonderfully. Conclusion: yes, the small cartridges run out quickly
