The insert is compatible with Roll for the Galaxy and the expansions The Big Dream and Big Competition. The design provides both efficient storage for all game materials and an enhanced gaming experience. The necessary compartments can be used during the game, significantly facilitating setup and cleanup. The rulebooks and the game board serve as a lid for the compartments.

When the top layer is removed, the remaining dice and game token compartments are visible. At the top of the box are the compartments for the vertical storage of game pieces, with separate spaces for the faction, home world, objectives, and other game pieces. In the middle are the dice and game token compartments. Next to them are the storage compartments for the game pieces and the dice cups.

There are four dice compartments that come with the insert, which have enough sections for all the dice included in the original game and expansions. In total, there are eight sections, and the dice of the leader, entrepreneur, and pioneer are stored together in the largest compartment.

The dice compartments are equipped with a raised section at the bottom left of each compartment, so the dice never lie completely flat. This makes it easier to remove the dice, regardless of the number of dice in the tray.

The game tiles, with separate spaces for the faction, home world, objectives, and other tiles, are stored vertically in specially designed compartments. These have holes cut into the sides to facilitate access during setup and gameplay. Original game phase and treasure limit strips are also stored here.

There are game token compartments, with one on the left side storing the VP game tokens.
