The Triqueta, the knot of trinity, represents the connection of three things. In the namesake family game, this is symbolized by wooden animal tokens that must be arranged into trios. It is crucial that there can only be one Triqueta for each of the six animal species. If the balance is disturbed by additional tokens of the same species, players receive penalty points.

In each of the four rounds, players can decide whether to draw new animal tokens or take an already laid-out animal row and exit the round. It is essential to time this correctly to secure a lucrative row before one of the other players snatches it away. Those who manage to lay down as many complete Triquetas as possible with the right timing and without having excess animals will win the game.

The Triqueta 2nd Edition also includes the expansion Hidden Wolves. This not only introduces a new variant for two players but also friendly yet shy wolves. They hide in the shadows until the end of the game and are worth many points as a Triqueta. However, among the shadow animal tokens, there are also animals of every other species. Those who find the right balance between risk-taking and planning ahead can use the wolves to score points.
