New product 2020 / 2021: With the newly designed PIKO 1044/1144, there will be authentic models of the high order numbers of this series in 1:87 for the first time. The distinctive locomotive face of the former ÖBB flagship has been excellently captured in the model, as has the striking side profile of the vehicles, which posed challenges for the mold construction with its pronounced grooves and typical "portholes." The impression of ideal optical effect continues in the locomotive's bogies. Not least, the new 1044 impresses technically: A five-pole PIKO motor, with two finely balanced flywheels on its shaft, ensures smooth propulsion. Model railroaders who prefer digital operation will benefit from the modern PluX22 interface – it allows for the installation of a digital decoder with just a few simple steps. The now-standard light change has been implemented using contemporary LED technology. However, it is not common for the PIKO model to also feature switchable lighting for the driver's cab and control desk in digital operation.
