Playing ball, the house of the snail Rufus breaks in two. Butterfly lady Beatrix is desperate because shortly before the longed-for butterfly ball, the colour falls off her wings. The earthworm Max is caught by a bird, and Maja has to prevent it from ending up as a wedding feast. A cricket robs the meadow of sleep. Maja shows the queen the beauty of the meadow, and the fly Walter blows to the monster hunt, when one day a huge trail of slime is found in the meadow, making the snail Rufus pale with envy.
