The Crucial X10 has a problem on the Mac. Although it uses a USB-C connector, it is technically a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 interface. The dilemma: Hardly any device today has this port and macOS does not support the standard - not even via Thunderbolt 5. As a result, this SSD, which theoretically achieves 20 Gbit/s (or 2,003.8 MB/s when tested) on a Windows PC, only runs like an ordinary USB 3.2 drive on a Mac...

Different nuances, one winner Crucial's X10 series offers a good ratio of speed, size and price for the 20 Gbit/s SSD class. Samsung's T9 is built to a high standard and delivers decent performance; the T7 Shield may be robust, but is too slow for the price at the time of going to press...

The Crucial X10 shows consistently good to very good performance in the test and is the fastest external SSD we have tested so far in many tests. The results in the Seq tests are very good and are slightly below the manufacturer's specifications, while the results in the 4K tests are good to very good...

The Crucial X10 2TB impresses in the CHIP test with great performance. Its high read speed of 2,036 MByte/s and a write speed of 1,906 MByte/s guarantee first-class data transfer rates. Even when writing continuously, the SSD shows no noticeable loss of speed at 1,985 MB/s. It uses the USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 standard and impresses with its mobility: weighing just 39 grams and compact dimensions, it is ideal...
