The Kingston IronKey Keypad 200 is an operating system-independent, hardware-encrypted USB drive with an alphanumeric keypad for easy PIN access. The KP200 features hardware-based XTS-AES 256-bit encryption. It is also certified to FIPS 140-3 Level 3 (pending) for military-grade security and includes enhancements that further increase data privacy. The circuits are coated with a special epoxy layer that makes it nearly impossible to remove components without damaging them; this resilient epoxy prevents attacks on the semiconductor components. The drive is designed to be tamper-evident, alerting the owner to any unauthorized access. It also offers protection against brute-force password attacks and BadUSB threats with digitally signed firmware. The alphanumeric keypad is covered with a polymer layer that protects the keys and conceals their use from fingerprint analysis.

The KP200 has a built-in battery that allows the drive to be unlocked initially without software and then connected to any device that supports USB Mass Storage Type A. This provides users with maximum flexibility across various platforms and operating systems.

Additionally, the drive offers two levels of write protection modes - a global mode that can be set by the administrator and a session-only mode that can be set by the user. Write-protected modes can safeguard the drive from malware on untrusted systems. Furthermore, the administrator can load content and set the global write protection mode, allowing the user to access the data but preventing any changes.
