Cat6 cables are designed for operating frequencies up to 250 MHz and are used for signal transmission with high data transfer rates of up to 1 Gbps. Due to the high signal frequencies, special care is required during installation and assembly, particularly at the connection points of the wires. The individual wire pairs in Cat6 are twisted at different tightness levels, which further reduces susceptibility to interference compared to Cat5e. Application areas for Cat6 cables include voice and data transmission as well as multimedia and ATM networks. Even more powerful are cables according to Cat6e (500 MHz) and Cat6a (625 MHz).

A significant advantage of Slimpatch cables is their use in wiring racks and 48-port switches. Their extremely thin design and high flexibility help avoid cable clutter and maintain organization. A Wirewin Cat6 Slimpatch cable features a flexible and wide connector protection as well as length markings on both ends, ensuring more order in your distribution cabinets. These cables are the optimal solution for connecting IP phones to your network. Thanks to the short connector and their flexibility, they are ideally suited for this application. Despite their extremely thin construction, Power over Ethernet supply for IP phones is also possible with these cables. Additionally, the cables are no longer flat as usual but have a round shape.

The AWG (American Wire Gauge) system is based on the manufacturing process of wires and indicates the conductor thickness of the copper wire. AWG36 corresponds to a conductor cross-section of 0.0127 mm².

Patch cable type

The cable type, describes the structure of a network cable. Fiber optic cables are suitable for distribution over longer distances (up to 80 km) and are resistant to interference. Copper cables can be used for distances up to 100 m and are cheaper to purchase.

Contact assignment

The contact assignment provides information on how the network cable can be used. An uncrossed cable can be used to connect terminals to the network, while a crossed cable can be used to connect two terminals.
