Sorry, I have never used it before
Hello Ray, the device is designed for installation in a PC housing. Of course, you can also operate it externally. With SATA cable and external power supply. Alternatively a 51/4 " housing.
I cannot say DVDfab. But the device runs with MakeMKV.
Yes/no...not in the original state. With the appropriate firmware update for e.g. Clone BD (Slysoft), it works wonderfully. I was able to read out my purchased Le Mans 66 (4K HDR) without any problems.
Neither are capable of 4k bluray cinema. I would recommend an external drive anyway. Then you won't have any problems with too few SATA ports. If you want to buy an m2 ssd hard drive later. There's usually no room in the case anyway, if you have a newer one. I recommend this Verbatim 43888 (Blu-ray). Then you can make direct copies on fly with your old DVD Rom/recorder (backup copies for the car..kids.). But you probably still won't be able to watch 4k blurays. But maybe in the future. But back to your question. It's pretty much the same (software is also included).
