I first tried this projector in a gym. It was about 5 metres away from the screen and despite only dim light (not darkness) I still found the picture excellent. Incidentally, I wonder if the brightness itself doesn't also contribute, at least psychologically, to the fact that one perceives an image from a beamer as being of good or less quality. In any case, I am very satisfied with the projector.
