The Theta SC2 is equipped with a range of preset modes that deliver the perfect footage for specific subjects and shooting scenarios. An all-new underwater mode allows the user to adjust the ideal white balance when filming underwater. There is also a mode that recognises human faces and automatically places them in the centre of the frame, using exposure compensation and noise reduction to smooth out the skin. In addition, a mode utilises dynamic range compensation and noise reduction through image composition to deliver beautiful night shots.

Another mode controls two lenses individually to enable clear, bright shots of subjects in scenarios with significant differences in brightness, such as inside and outside a vehicle or on a stage. The bottom half and side of the Theta SC2 is where the camera's entire user interface is located. The shutter button and OLED display are located on the front of the camera, while the side features the power, Wi-Fi, mode and self-timer buttons.

The Theta SC2 can be connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth. Improvements in usability make it possible to use smartphones with only a Bluetooth connection for shooting. When the camera switches to energy-saving mode, it can be switched on via the basic app. With a Wi-Fi connection, all functions can be used, including live view display and image transfer to a smartphone, which can be used depending on the shooting situation.
