I have a Denon home cinema amplifier (AVR-X2000 which dates from 2013) which has an Ethernet input so I can access my audio data stored on my NAS. So it's the amp's built-in DAC that's being used. Is using such a device to reproduce my audio files going to bring me real added value? (I don't use streaming services such as Tidal or Qobuz). Thank you for your advice and feedback.
The Wiim Home app that I've installed on my Android phone allows me to view the NAS and reproduce audio files that are stored there.
Now there's the question of the quality of the DAC in the Wiim Pro, but there's no doubt that it will be much better than a DAC from 2013.
I see it the same way as the other users. The added value of better DACs is negligible here and will hardly bring any audible improvement.
I don't think there's much added value there. It would be better to replace the AVR with a better amplifier and then use the Wiim, with an even better DAC in between.
The added value would probably not be overly great, although the Wiim plus pro has very good DACs. The gain in resolution and spatiality would be lost in the preamplifier stage of the Denon's analogue input.
