I read Windows, is it not Mac compatible in that case?

Technically, there are no compatibility problems per se, no matter which hard drive. You can simply format any hard drive and it will work on Mac. Here's what Seagate thinks:

I can't answer 100%, but what I can say is that it delays the start of Windows by about 30 seconds.
On my wife's Mac (photo processing) I have installed the following and she is happy with them:
G-Tech Drive USB G1 (10TB)
LaCie d2 Professional (10TB)

are a bit more expensive, but unlike this one, they don't make clicking noises.... that worries me a bit
To the actual question, Mac can read and write Windows format (NTFS) and a re-format to Mac HFS+ is actually no problem.
