I suppose it doesn't matter to the HTC U12+ smartphone if I only use it with one SIM card? And a small question by the way: How does a Dual SIM actually work, do you always have to switch? does Whats App have to be installed 2x etc.? (..never had a Dual SIM).

Yes, you can use the U12+ with one sim card, with one sim card and one memory card or with two sim cards. The dualsim function is limited to calls and SMS that can be active at the same time, which means that you can always receive calls from both numbers. However, the data function can only be used via one sim card at a time and can be changed in the settings.
