The goal of developing UltraChrome pigment ink was to combine the long-term and short-term color stability of pigment inks with the color range of dye inks. This new color ink system includes Light Black as a seventh color, enabling smoother gradations in black and white printing, as well as two types of black ink, matte and photo, ensuring optimal quality can be achieved on all media types.
