I'm still trying to find out what the regulations are. There is always talk of "mobile system" and "split system". Mobile system= allowed, even in rented flat; split system= planning permission+ permission from owner. What about a mobile split system? This has a bit of both, is not fixed, does not require conversion, but there is a box hanging in front of the window that everyone can see. If it is not permanently installed, it (presumably) does not require a permit from the local authority (planning permission), but does it need permission from the landlord because of the box in front of the window? I don't have to worry about noise emissions, the window faces the main road, which is already noisy anyway. The only problem is that the box in front of the window would be very visible from the street.

Fortunately, Digitec is now offering the PortaSplit as an in-house seller. I am therefore repeating my question in the hope that Digitec will be able to answer this time: Is this already the updated 2026 version (especially software, but also slightly improved accessories) or is the old 24/25 version still being offered here? If not, when and at what price will the 2026 version be available? If you don't know exactly, could you please provide the serial number / production batch and other identifiers? I’m not entirely sure which plug the appliance comes with. Also, the specifications state that the power rating is 3.5 kW. That would be a current of approximately 16 A. In Switzerland, most sockets are fused at 10A. Do I therefore need a Type 23 socket, which is fused at 16A?

What is the maximum distance between the window and the split air-conditioner? (Can the blinds be lowered between the split air-conditioner and the window?)

Thanks to Galaxus for pointing out that if you are not the owner, you must submit a request to your property management company or landlord, as installing an item such as an air-conditioning unit – even without any alterations or drilling – changes the appearance of the building and is subject to a planning application For my part, I had to remove it after receiving an email from the property management, despite several discussions with them.

Not a question, but a statement of fact: anyone who thinks, right now in the summer of 2026, that delivery will be quick or that the price is good – is mistaken! Recommendation: sit out the heatwave now and then buy in autumn or winter! At the end of 2025, this item was briefly available at a DIY discount store for 720 CHF...

Are the hoses detachable, or are they not yet connected on delivery? I’d like to have the outdoor unit in the attic and the other unit in the living room. From my experience with an older (now faulty) air conditioning unit, I know that this is actually possible and the holes for the ducting are already in place. But it will only work if I can thread the hose through individually...

Hey Galaxus, why the price fluctuations? The appliance has cost CHF 899 at OBI for over a year and with a bit of googling you can still find a discount voucher so that you get 800 including delivery. Why is it so massively more expensive for you?
