The Danish King Christian IV was a great supporter of Christmas and known for his lavish celebrations and elegant tables for the occasion. In this tradition, the famous porcelain manufacturer Royal Copenhagen developed an elegant service for the reflective Advent season, which quickly became a classic of the Royal Copenhagen house. The Star Fluted Christmas service was created based on old, traditional designs from the late 19th century. Traditional Christmas symbols entwine around a green fir garland on the finest bone china. Bells, angels, hearts, drums, and other charming Advent motifs are tied together with a large bow made of red satin ribbon. The decoration was applied by hand and enhanced with fine gold embellishments to give this exquisite porcelain an additional festive shine.
