Thanks to the legendary BlackChili compound, Continental has sustainably answered the eternal question of grip versus rolling resistance. Regular test victories demonstrate the measurable and noticeable advantages for riders, both in the lab and on the road. The latest polymers, along with specially developed carbon black particles and fillers, ensure unique performance. Vectran is a synthetic high-tech fiber inspired by nature. Like spider silk, Vectran is a liquid crystalline polymer. Vectran is spun from the molten liquid polymer Vectra and processed into a multi-fiber yarn. Both spider silk and Vectran possess enormous tear resistance at minimal weight. These are exactly the right properties to be used as a puncture protection insert in a top Continental tire. A Vectran breaker is lighter, more flexible, and provides more effective protection against cuts than comparable nylon breakers. The Vectran breaker does not affect rolling resistance.
