Bring your mood board to life: Pinterest trends for autumn

Pinterest reveals what Gen Z’s into this autumn – ideas for second-hand treasures, art deco vibes and stylish offices are all over the boards. Here’s how to implement the top trends in your home.

Whether you want to completely revamp your home or just add a few fresh accents: these trends predicted on Pinterest not only look good on the feed, but are also suitable for everyday use.

1. Second-hand treasures

Gen Z focuses on sustainable interior solutions and loves to tell stories using vintage furniture and decorative objects with patina. And the figures speak for themselves. Search queries on the visual inspiration platform for «second-hand kitchens» have risen by a whopping 1012 per cent, while «second-hand decoration» is also up by a substantial 283 per cent. Why is second-hand so celebrated? Every scratch adds character and mystery. What’s more, vintage pieces have often been made to a higher standard than mass-produced items.

Tip: Browse flea markets, second-hand stores or resale platforms such as Ricardo, Tutti or Galaxus. Combine old favourites with clean, modern elements to create exciting contrasts.

2. Creative office setups

Gen Z puts an end to boring desks and focuses on inspiring designs that increase the workflow. Searches for «office makeovers» have risen by 2767 per cent and those for «green office aesthetics» by 1065 per cent. Plants play a big part in the look here – they bring colour and life to the room. Stylish accessories such as colourful stationery, cool lamps or vintage desks add the finishing touches to your office.

Tip: A mix of style and function is key. Ergonomic chairs, good lighting and clever storage solutions are just as important as decorative highlights. Your workplace shouldn’t just look nice, but also encourage productivity.

3. Statement tiles

Tiles are art for your floor or wall. Whether copper tiles in the bathroom (up by 505 per cent) or Mexican tiles as a kitchen splashback (up by 380 per cent) – they can give a room that certain something. What’s particularly popular are tiles with bold colours or eye-catching patterns. They’re durable, easy to clean and still make a statement.

Tip: Use tiles in a targeted manner. A wall in the bathroom, the back wall in the kitchen or the floor in the hallway – with the right patterns and colours, you can completely transform rooms.

4. Decorative modernity

The glamour of the 1920s is back – with a modern touch. When you think of Art Deco, you think of elegance, geometric shapes and luxurious materials. So it’s no wonder that search queries for «art deco vintage» have risen by 805 per cent and «vintage tiles» by 1107 per cent. Golden details and fine fabrics such as velvet, or materials such as marble and geometric patterns bring glam into your home without making it look overloaded.
