The Vivoactive 3 Music does not have a barometer. The altitude profile is recorded using a GPS tracker and can then be viewed in the Garmin Connect app. Certain models have an integrated barometer, but this is also reflected in the price.

Yup, there are various so-called "watchfaces" - analogous to a desktop on the PC - on which the step count is always displayed.
This watch has the same functions as the Vivoactive 3, but with the addition of the music function. Strava compatibility is also given

I could not find this problem so far, worked fine with Sony xperia z5 (Android Nougat I think) and Oneplus 6 (Android Oreo and Pie). Which smartphone is being used? Maybe there are more details on the manufacturer's website or in the forum at Garmin.
On the Garmin website, the watch is still available in the colour variant Granite Blue with Rose Gold. Unfortunately, I can't tell you whether digitec will also offer it.
