I am enthusiastically running it with 3.5" hard drives and am considering equipping it with 2.5" Samsung SSDs. Has anyone already done this and can say something about the difference in access times?

I'm a bit confused that "hard disk size" says 2.5" and 3.5". Can two 3.5" hard drives also be used?

Does the app cost for controlling the server and for accessing the files or is the app free?

The apps are free of charge. But mainly you manage the NAS via browser.

No, the RAM cannot be expanded with the DS218. If you want to do this, you have to go for the DS218+.

I have found conflicting info on whether you can run the DS218 with a WIFI dongle. Does anyone operate this with a WIFI dongle? Which dongles are compatible?

My DS212+ has now probably had its day (no longer starts up, I have already tried a different power supply). Can I put the disks (WD Red 3TB) into the DS218 and it will run? Many thanks and greetings Emanuel

Ordered on Friday. Received on Saturday. 40 CHF cheaper (14%) on Monday. Can anything be done?

Does anyone know if there was a special offer on Monday? The DS218 was still priced at 290 - it didn't say that it was a special offer or anything like that. Or is digitec now also offering pseudo price games like the Americans do on black friday? :-/
