Question about NSLS300 - 580812

Do you need this thing to work? Or to "stow away"? Somehow I don't see the point. When I'm working, I like the notebook open, as a second monitor. When I'm stowing it away, my office desk doesn't make much sense because I can't use the space in any other way (as soon as I start working again, I have to unfold it again). I only ask out of interest. Not because I'm looking for a reason to buy it. Just don't understand this thing. :)
