Is this disk suitable for media storage (streaming of FLAC files, access from stereo), both in terms of the operating volume of the disk and the reading speed in continuous operation?

Helpful answer

Compared to the other MyBook drives I have bought so far (10 x 8 TB, 2 x 10 TB, 3 x 14 TB), the 18 TB drive is definitely the loudest. You hear a clacking sound every now and then. The other drives also make a clacking noise, but it is much quieter.

I use this hard drive as media storage of music MP3 & video MP4 data. I have uploaded this data to Couds. This allows me to access it from anywhere with my media devices. In this way, I use the hard drive as a backup of my music data. Streaming MP4 videos with a size of 3 GB directly to TV works. Takes up to 30 seconds to load, then the whole video can be watched. Fast forwarding also works. It can

happen that the video is reloaded during rewinding. I can imagine that streaming Flac files, which are much smaller than 3 GB, should work without problems. This is not a direct answer to the question. But this is what I can say about it. I hope this information helps anyway.

I use the hard disk as a data storage device under Mac OS. That's why I can't say anything about playing FLAC or videos. The drive has been in continuous operation for two days. When it starts up, it makes a great, sometimes frightening noise, which is not comparable to my other WD drives. It rattles quietly during operation. For this reason, I wouldn't recommend it as a media drive, but at most as

a 'supply' in a cupboard.
