Yes, that works very well for me. My network shares are on a Synology NAS. However, the resulting PDFs are not OCRd, which I then do with Adobe.

I think that is possible. In my case, I have not defined a network location. Therefore, the corresponding touch button only led to a message and I scanned from the Mac instead. Unfortunately, I won't be able to test it reliably until Saturday at the earliest.
