To replace a provider router, do I necessarily need a router with modem function or is any other router also possible as a replacement? I'm looking for one that transmits faster and stronger than the one from the provider. In particular, it should be able to transmit Wilmaa, Zattoo and others to tablet and smartphone without interruption. Even over several corners and metres. And I know that I will lose the support of the provider if I use a device other than the provider's own router. No matter.

if possible, i would set up the provider's router transparently so that it only functions as a modem. then you can use any router of your own behind it. the advantage is that you can keep it even if you choose a different technology for the internet connection, e.g. from dsl to cable or fibre optic. the synology router is worth a look. it's very easy to set up and the wifi strength really surprised

me in a positive way.

Yes, you can use any of them. For your needs, I recommend a Fritz!Box: AVM FRITZ!Box 7590 A/CH, ac1733/n800
