With the pop literature of the 1990s, the study takes a look at a subject that has received much attention in the cultural and media sciences, transversely to previous research: It consistently assumes
that pop literature is the result of a publicly negotiated aesthetic-political pattern of reception, which itself is a result of the turnaround discourse 'normalisation'. The work shows how the feuilleton, in the context of the reformulation of the national self-image after 1989/90, produces in the literary field the idea of a new, coherent literary epoch on which scientific reception is then built when it analyses the epoch of pop literature as a literary phenomenon. Systematically, the leading participants in the discourse in the feuilleton, literary studies and literature are examined with regard to their contribution to K.
