3. Normann Copenhagen Allez

The Allez chair has a light and airy look, and the design idiom draws on recognizability. The organic curves of the shell mimic the shape of the body. Together with the reinforced backrest, this ensures optimal strength and seating comfort. The designer's signature principle of an honest design suited for modern needs is clearly evident in the shape of the Allez chair. About the design, designer Simon Legald tells: "Most chairs are based on a construction consisting of a type of shell and a frame. By breaking up the chair into components, it can be shaped and adapted to suit different environments. The construction was a key motivation in the design and is what makes Allez so innovative and unique." Allez is available in five timeless tones, each reflecting the stark and beautiful Nordic nature. A balanced and neutral color palette of park green, grey and warm grey, as well as black and white, allows the design to humbly fit into larger contexts and outdoor environments. The color scale supports the desire for a design that will stay relevant for many generations to come.

Form dining room series. Scandinavian design in a modern way for the dining room or the kitchen: Simon Legald designs innovative dining room furniture of unusual construction for the Danish manufacturer Normann Copenhagen. Despite the combination of different materials, the chair, armchair and table appear to be made of one piece: the legs made of oak round rods merge almost seamlessly into the seat shell or table top, they are, so to speak, flush with the cast plastic or aluminium sleeves. Shape chair. The seat shells are seamlessly moulded from plastic in a single operation. The different material thicknesses achieved in this process give them stability or flexibility in exactly those places where they are needed from an ergonomic point of view. Moreover, cross-bracing of the wooden legs ensures stable sitting, even if someone likes to give the fidget a fidget. 6. Normann Copenhagen Hyg

Inspired by Danish hygge, designer Simon Legald has created the Hyg furniture series. When the series was introduced in 2018, it consisted of a 2-seater sofa, lounge chairs and a footstool. In 2020, the range expands with a chair and barstool that share the characteristics of the lounge series: the hearty, organic curves designed with a focus on sublime comfort. The concept of hygge is all about feeling good – security, warmth and comfort all form part of its DNA, and it is precisely these qualities that provide the template for the Hyg collection. With the new models, the range – and the coziness – further unfolds, and new possibilities arise of creating coherent environments with both dining and lounge areas.”The moments where we sit down together, immerse ourselves in conversation and share a meal – for me this is where the feeling of hygge really peaks. Thus, it seemed only natural that the Hyg range should also provide the setting for moments like these. The feeling of hygge is not only linked to the visual experience of the design; it lies in the overall sensuous experience. A lot of effort has gone into sculpting the shape to provide rest and support for the human body, to make it comfortable to sit in, basically.”, Simon Legald tells us.

7. Normann Copenhagen Form Chair

Simon Legald designed Form for Normann Copenhagen with the aim of creating a chair as if from a single mould, in which the seat and frame form a single unit. To achieve this seamless, integrated look, a new and innovative solution was developed to connect the seat to the legs. The moulded hard plastic seat and the frame in oak, walnut or steel are easily joined together with a unique plug-in system. The hard plastic seat meets elegantly with the legs in wood or steel, emphasizing the high quality craftsmanship and sobriety of Scandinavian furniture design. Form is a modern armchair with a minimalist expression. With its simple and contemporary design, the Form armchair has a soft and inviting silhouette and a clearly upscale look. The legs give the impression of growing out of the shell. This gives the design a flexibility that allows the frame to be modified in countless ways to suit a wide range of interiors. The Form armchairs offer great support for the back and unimagined freedom of movement, while the armrests invite you to relax. The sturdy materials and contoured shape ensure comfortable sitting. Together with a clear design, Form becomes a flexible and practical chair for every room, whether as an office chair, dining room chair or side chair.

9. Normann Copenhagen Pind

Named after the defining wooden dowels in its design, Pind, the Danish word for wooden stick, encapsulates the spirit of iconic Shaker chairs from 19th-century America. Radiating timeless elegance, this furniture style is renowned for its slender and refined dowels delicately adorning the chair's backrest. With a clean and contemporary expression, Pind pays homage to the timeless artistry of traditional craftsmanship, bringing the classic wooden chair into the present. Designer Simon Legald elaborates, "The Pind chair collection is a study in seamlessly merging a classic chair with a contemporary design that meets the demands of the modern-day consumer." Pind's design consists solely of solid wooden dowels, with the exception of the seat. The collection includes dining chairs with or without armrests, as well as bar stools in two heights. The backrest of Pind features a meticulously crafted elliptical curve, ensuring optimal comfort and improved back support. Gracefully supported by three subtly angled wooden dowels, the armrests harmonize with the backrest, further enhancing the chairs' aesthetic appeal.
