Do the additional functions such as stride length really only work with a chest strap? With my current Forerunner35 model it works without one.
Cadence (stride rate) and Average stride length also work without a chest strap. However, data such as vertical movement/ratio and ground contact time seem to require additional equipment (chest strap or Running Dynamics Pod).
Hello, the HRM 4 chest strap has additional sensors that measure acceleration and inclination. This gives you the following functions in addition to the pulse:
Step frequency, Vertical movement, Ground contact time, Step length, Vertical ratio.
It all works and I use it to improve my running style.
