No, the insert tool does not need to be lubricated, but it should be kept clean, i.e. wiped/cleaned from time to time. I like to do this with Ballistol Universal Oil (also available at Galaxus). The stuff cleans, lubricates and you can throw the cleaning rag into the rubbish.
